CompTIA A+ Certification Preparation

This course is designed to prepare students for the CompTIA A+ 220-1002 certification exam. The 220-1002 certification exam is the second exam towards the CompTIA A+ Certification and covers installing and configuring operating systems including Windows, iOS, Android, Apple OS X, and Linux. It also addresses security, the fundamentals of cloud computing, and operational procedures.

Become Certified in the CompTIA A+ 220-1002

In this course students obtain the skills and knowledge required to install, configure, optimize, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, and perform preventative maintenance on PCs, mobile and digital devices. You will also learn to implement security solutions for operating systems, mobile devices, workstations and data, physical security and implement security with operational procedures.

Course Prerequisites

Personal Computer Fundamentals for Technical Users course or equivalent knowledge of personal computers, basic networking, and security, and the CompTIA A+ 220-1001 course.

Admission Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent or Mature Student Status.
Courses are open to any applicant who possesses a good command of the English language and is able to follow instructions.
An admissions interview will be administered to determine if the applicant has the required interest, motivation, and entry-level skills to take this program.
Full-time students must attend the required hours per week as per the course schedule and may do so at times convenient to them.
Part-time students may set their own schedules to a minimum of two training sessions per week. These times may be scheduled during the day, evenings, or on weekends.

Introduction to client-side operating systems and their installations

Module 2
Windows installation and upgrade considerations, and drive partitioning, disk formatting, function of the system volume to ensure successful installation for all operating system types

Module 3
Understanding and using Windows management utilities in both the command line and the GUI to perform network diagnostics, manage disks, and maintain systems

Module 4
Using Windows Administrative Tools and performing memory diagnostics, disk management, and system maintenance

Module 5
Accessing and configuring various system features and components with Windows Control Panel applets

Module 6
Configuration requirements and considerations for application rollouts, networking security, and
remote connections for all types of operating systems

Module 7
Core security principles and technologies for protecting employees, networks, and intellectual properties from the emergent threats of the 21st century

Module 8
Introduction to the essentials of security for Active Directory administration, user management controls, and file and disk encryption

Module 9
Using common troubleshooting tools and methods with a systematic approach towards recognizing common symptoms and applying common solutions

Module 10
Outlining safety standards and best practices for developing an implementation handbook that contains business policies, networking diagrams, regulatory and compliance, standards, and many other policies

Module 11
Using Credential Manager, BitLocker, Device Manager, Sync Center, and the many Windows system utilities for defining critical system operations
